I am a firm believer in skincare regimens, self-love, and self-care. With the added circumstance of COVID19, self-care, and a routine that works for you is needed now more than ever. Don’t get me wrong, having to stay indoors for the last 5 weeks straight has had its downsides but ever an optimist, looking at the brighter side is always what I strive for. I shared my top 10 tips of coping with anxiety in an earlier post, these tips have been my crotch, to be honest, and I hope you find it useful. One of the main tips I shared was on making time for yourself, indulging in skin and body care.
Bioderma and Chase pr sent me three main products from their Pigmentbio line to review, which have honestly been a lifesaver. The Pigmentbio range was created for those with sensitive skin who have discoloration and hyperpigmentation. The products offer intense but very gentle correction whilst appreciating the skin’s natural sensitivity.
Its LumiReveal™ Technology treats dark spots by targeting the key stages of the pigmentation process, to reduce their appearance, and stop them from appearing. The answer for hyperpigmented skin, Pigmentio will reveal the skin’s natural brightness.
There are 5 products in this range; a foaming cream, daily care moisturiser, micellar water, C-Concentrate and a night renewer but I will only be talking about the 3 I received; micellar water, daily care and the night cream.
Bioderma Pigmentbio H2O- Micellar Water
I am no stranger to a good face of makeup, what irks me is the taking off of it. It can either be a pleasurable thing to do or a right pain, depending on how and what you use. Micellar water, in general, is a good way of lifting makeup off your face, you do this by applying the micellar water to your using cotton pad to wipe clean your face.
This Micellar water gently cleanses and reveals much brighter and cleaner skin. I especially love the fact that it targets hyperpigmentation and gently brightens dark spots whilst appreciating how sensitive my skin is. Though not the best at removing stubborn concealer and eyeliner, its strength lies in tackling dark spot and uneven skin tone.
The revitalising cleansing water is also infused with the trio of skin-loving vitamins A, E and PP. These antioxidants protect the complexion from oxidative stress, such as UV rays, which causes premature ageing. They restore the skin’s barrier function, keeping the face protected, brightened and hydrated.Bioderma
This product is a reformulation of the White Objective Micelle Solution, this improved version is refreshing and gentle on the skin. it is Hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and comes in a portable 250ml bottle. According to Bioderma, you do not have to rinse this product off after use, just dab your face gently with a towel. This may be an attractive way of using the product, I highly recommend that you use this as your first skincare product and follow through with a face wash and then a moisturiser of your choice.
How do you use your micellar water? before or during your makeup removal process?
Bioderma Pigmentbio Daily Care SPF50
Invest in your skin. It is going to represent you for a very long them.Linden Tyler
I don’t know about you but what I always look for in a moisturiser is hydration, antioxidant protection and gentleness. This daily care moisturiser has SPR50+ (a lot I know) which provides a very high UVA and UVB sun protection. This makes it the perfect sunscreen for the summer vacation in the sun when the lockdown is over. Remembering to also protect your face from the sun is just as important as your body. This will go a long way to preventing hyperpigmentation and dark spots. I especially love it because it targets hyperpigmentation and is suitable for sensitive skin.
This moisturiser is infused with Bioderma’s LumiReveal™ Technology, a patented combination of active ingredients that correct hyperpigmentation; this innovation works to reduce the look of existing dark spots and prevents new ones from reappearing.Bioderma
It also contains vitamin E and C which offer antioxidant protection and help strengthen the skin’s barrier. It is also non-comedogenic.
Though a little drier than I would like, it acts as a really good glowy layer under makeup. It has a slight smell which disappears after application and is not off-putting. I use this product every morning as part of my skincare regimen (where is the sun I hear you ask?) because I noticed a subtle improvement in my dark spots and skin pigmentation.
You get 40 ml of product and it has an easy to use pump applicator which makes it easy to control the amount of product you use and also makes it hygienic to use.
Bioderma Pigmentbio Night Renewer
I saved the best for last. I have been on the lookout for a hydrating night cream that is not greasy and would help recover my skin while I sleep.
I will not let age change me.
I will change the way I age.Unknown
This product contains Vitamin C and E which protects the skin from pollution, premature ageing. At the same time, strengthening the skin’s barrier function, by forming a protective layer of hydration.
This regenerating night cream was also made for people with sensitive skin and hyperpigmentation. I love it because it is very hydrating without being slippery leaving my face refreshed and my texture soft touch. I saw a reduction in my dark spots and actively prevented any new ones from appearing.
It also claims to “restores collagen production, smoothing fine lines, wrinkles, and improve elasticity, which results in plumper and more supple skin. It encourages skin cell renewal, creating a rejuvenated and brighter complexion overnight”. Though this may seem like big claims, I used this night cream religiously as part of my night time skin routine and I can say that my skin looks brighter and plumper with very minimal dark spots.
Bioderma’s Pigmentbio Night Renewer harnesses the power of its patented LumiReveal™ Technology, inspired by leading treatments used in dermatology to do this. The lightweight, watery sleeping mask will help to reduce the appearance of existing dark spots and prevent new ones from reappearing, while illuminating and unifying skin tone.Bioderma
Though stylish looking and a great formula, the only thing I didn’t quite like about the product was the packaging. It boasts of a unique shape which looks sleek and is easy to grip, I just wish it wasn’t a tub. Tubs to me mean germs because you are constantly dipping your finger into the product. I definitely should mention that it came with a tiny teaspoon to scoop the product out, which gives it a luxurious touch but keeping track of that applicator was a mission in itself. It is also Hypoallergenic and Non-comedogenic.
So is this range worth it?
Take it like this, if you can stick to a consistent skincare regimen and take care of your skin (exfoliate, wash, cleans and don’t wear makeup to bed, you know the usual stuff) and would like to gently lighten any hyperpigmentation and dark spots that you have then this is for you.
This range requires discipline, it will not give you overnight results that are completely visible but it is sure to be gentle on your skin and give your skin the results it needs. The only product that could use a bit of improvement is the daily cream because of the lack of hydration. I understand that it can be difficult to get hydration out of a product that has such a high SPF but a serum in this range would go a long way. Possibly the Bioderma Pigmentbio C-Concentrate that I didn’t try could provide some added moisture.
The range doesn’t break the bank in my opinion. It ranges from just over £10-£23 which makes it affordable to repurchase over time. You can pick up the range at a discounted price on Escentual.
I hope you found this review useful. Remember to stay safe and look after yourself and go wash your hands :).
